Our Aims

Playful Penguins was set up in November 2009 and is run by Hayley and Toni; one of us is an experienced nanny and ex-solicitor and the other is a qualified Primary School teacher. During the course of our careers, we have either been working in or looking for (we have 2 children each), some type of childcare and have often been surprised at the different types of care offered within different settings.

This is where Playful Penguins aims to be different.  We have brought together the best elements of childminding and mixed them up with the best elements of a nursery setting and thrown in a lot of first hand mum experience too.

We have a fantastic homely setting that has been designed specifically for children and we are big believers in the outdoors with memberships at many local attractions like The Wild Place and Puxton Park. The end result is that you get a warm, well-equipped and loving home from home environment for your children to attend, with dedicated experienced childminders that are happy to bake cakes, make snow angels or jump in muddy puddles on a rainy day.

We aim to encourage all aspects of a child's development, not just academic but also social and emotional. With activities ranging from threading beads, pretending to be at the hairdresser's or hiding in bushes from a T-Rex; we love nothing more than to see the children in our care flourish and become their own little people.

If you want to find out what makes Playful Penguins so special then get in touch.  It can take up to a week to hear back as we are a small team swamped with enquiries, but we always reply within a week.
